Guidyu Search vs Other Search

To understand why Guidyu guided search is far superior to basic text search, you must first comprehend why basic text search is deficient.

Too many results

We have all experienced the search with a million results. Entering a search term with so many results makes it impractical and in most cases almost i for the user to find their answer. Most users have learned to accept that if they don't see what they want within the first few pages then they go back and change the search term in the hope of getting a better or different answer.

No results found

This is the worst case that users can find themselves in when searching on the internet. There is no hint given that there might be search results in associated topics. No attempt is made by the system to try and relax the search query to give the user another set of results for their context.

Incomplete search results

This is the hidden problem of normal text searching. What many users don't realize is that when they type in a search term they are probably getting only a small fraction of the total results available for the intended search concept. What is a search concept? If you were to search for 'car' you naturally also would be interested in 'automobile' perhaps even 'vehicle'. In a normal text search these terms would be excluded because the search engine has no capacity to understand what a 'car' is let alone that it is somehow related to 'automobile'. So you have just been cheated out of search results that may have answered your search query more precisely.

How does Guidyu fix these problems?

Ask a question!

If there are a large number of search results, Guidyu will segment the data and offer to the user not only the large list of results but an easy method of filtering the list down to more relevant results.

Similarly, if there are no results found then Guidyu will not leave the user high and dry. Guidyu will look at what the user has done on the site so far to see if it has experienced a similar browsing experience with other users of the system enabling Guidyu to offer up some choices to the user, based on those results.

In both cases Guidyu will ask the user context relevant questions to guide the user to a result set which matches their search concept.

Get all the answers

Guidyu will return the largest number of search results to the user based on the search concept and not simply on text pattern matching. Synonyms and associated concepts are returned to the user. The return results are weighted by their relevance to the user's particular needs. The list is also categorized dynamically by Guidyu to offer simple to understand result filtering to get the user to the most precise result for their search.

Complete results that are properly categorized from which the user can then makes intelligent choices.

Continual Learning

Speaking of smart, Guidyu actually learns from each interaction with your users. This means that its language base will grow to match the language used by your users and is not limited to the text that is found on your website. An example would be how Guidyu handles regional differences in English. Someone from England might use the word petrol to reference gasoline but a North American site would not use that term. Guidyu would quickly learn that petrol and gasoline represent the same concept and return the appropriate results instead of a no results found message.

Search has never been so SMART!
